My structured treatment process to help you get from “I want this” to “I now have this”…
Session 2: Change Experiment:
Change is a process of trial and errors. During our second session we develop your first behavioral experiment by carefully tailoring a manageable action plan to start the process of interrupting the old, non-productive patterns and redirecting your habits that fully support and reinforce your change goals.
Session 1: Contract for Change:
Our first session will focus on coming to a mutual agreement on a specific, desired and measurable outcome for change. Here we will explore and identify a specific strategy, skill or behavior that will be the sole focus of your later sessions toward implementing this plan.
Session 3: Review, Measure, and Feedback:
Here we will systematically gather and review data from your first experiment. We will focus on identifying exactly how the change effort succeeded or failed. Here we will also address and problem solve around any psychological barriers preventing you from achieving your desired outcomes.
Session 4: Experiment Modifications:
Here we will refine the action plan to overcome any new identified internal roadblocks (i.e., impasse resolution, lack of motivation, negative schemas) and create a more potent, resilient strategy to ensure progress over perfection.
Session 5: Review, Measure, and Feedback:
Here we will conduct a second, formal review to measure and confirm your growing mastery of the new behavior. Here we will explore relapse prevention strategies to ensure maintenance of new behavior.
Session 6: Graduation (if applicable):
Once the change contract is demonstrably complete we will conclude our therapeutic relationship. If the change contract is not completed we will utilize this session to thoroughly review and revise the contract to address the barriers that continue to stand in the way of your desired outcomes.
